Good news for sport fanatics, the final group stage for the 2018 World Cup qualifying games took place today. Previously beating out Burundi with a final score of 4 to 0, The Democratic Republic of Congo achieved victory yet again during this Sunday’s match against Guinea at the Stade du 28 Septembre, moving the DRC to the top of Group A. 23 minutes into the game, Guinéenne Seydouba Soumah gave Guinea the lead in the game thanks to a well converted penalty, by the end of the first half the scores read 1-0 against the DRC. However the game took a turn after the second half when the DRC’s first goal came courtesy of Neeskens Kebano, 54 minutes into the game, 2 minutes later, Yannick Bolasie’s provided a second goal providing the DRC with the win. This victory gave the DRC a total of six points, just like their Tunisian counterparts. However, due to their higher-ranking goal difference, the DRC beat out Tunisia to hold the top spot on Group A. A total of five teams will qualify to represent Africa at the 2018 Fifa World Cup being held in Russia. For now, congratulations to the national team on their win and their move to the top of group A, and good luck to the team as they continue with their training and upcoming qualifying games, which return sometime in August 2017.
